Hold on to Him for dear life
Walking up home from church Sunday afternoon; walking through the tall grass, some even taller than I am; a mother with her child just ahead of me. But without a warning the child bents over to fix her shoe; she even sits on the dirt ground. Her mother is still walking on ahead. I'm passing the little girl just as she is about ready to finish. She looks up ready to see her mom waiting for her, but this is not what she finds. All she can see is the very tall grass and no mom. Her mother is still walking on ahead just around the curves of the path, she just can not see her. The panic in her eyes tells it all; she has lost her precious; she is alone. The one thing familiar is hidden. In that moment her whole world changes from safety to a nightmare. The safety received from her mom is now gone. In all this, the truth is that nothing has changed, her mom is still there, it's only the veil of grass before her eyes stealing the view. All that is needed is to take a few steps and she would be able to have her in sight. She quickly runs towards the last place she saw her and to her relieve, there she is. Oh, she's here, still here. The calmness she enjoyed before falls upon her like a warm blanket on a July night and she is safe again. She smiles with satisfaction on finding what she thought she had lost. As long as she can see her mom, nothing else matters.
This is the same with our Father God. When we stop to do our own thing we lose sight of Him. Although in reality He is still there, we just need to go to the place where we were with Him last and we will surely find Him there. He has never left nor forsaken us. It was just us letting go of His hand. In and with Him there is safety and assurance. We are NEVER lost. Never! Hold on to Him for dear life. Never let go of His hand. He knows the way even in the midst of our darkest hour. He is taking us to the high places. We never take a chance WITH God. He is the assurance of all things.
